It’s Wednesday and it already feels like the week’s been endless. Tiring, rather…good luck to all of you who will be going to Youth Orchestra tonight! Hope it goes well for you. There’s not really much to say, but I can’t think of anything better to do with my time, so I guess you’ll just have to read this post.

Cheers,

Orchestra!

First day of Concert Orchestra went well, except for the fact that we were missing a lot of people! But it’s grown to an enormous size – almost fifty kids altogether. There are twenty five-some violins, many of them hailing from Elm City Chamberfest, I’m happy to say. We hope you guys who moved up to Youth will enjoy it as much as you did the Concert, of course.

Congrats to Winnie for making it to Concertmistress, in addition to Bonnie, Kate, and Helen as principals. No doubt it’ll be different this year, but still a ton of fun. :)

Oh, and just to let you know, comments are much appreciated! Thanks!

Peace,

Lily

Leaving on a Jet Plane…

All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go
I’m standin’ here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye

But the dawn is breakin’, it’s early morn
The taxi’s waitin’, he’s blowin’ his horn
Already I’m so lonesome I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go

‘Cause I’m leaving on a jet plane
I don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

I’m …

There’s so many times I’ve let you down
So many times I’ve played around
I’ll tell you now, they don’t mean a thing

Every place I go, I think of you
Every song I sing, I sing for you
When I come back I’ll wear your wedding ring

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go

‘Cause I’m leaving on a jet plane
I don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

Now the time has come to leave you
One more time, oh, let me kiss you
And close your eyes and I’ll be on my way

Dream about the days to come
When I won’t have to leave alone
About the times that I won’t have to say …

Oh, kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go

‘Cause I’m leaving on a jet plane
I don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

And I’m leaving on a jet plane
I don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

Almost Fall…

“Now nothing seems as strange as when the leaves began to change….”

Can’t believe it’s September already!!! School’s in full swing, and according to Mr. Jones we have taken up the slack in terms of being the crazy-eighth-graders-who-used-to-be-angelic-seventh-graders. Must have something to do with graduating and being done with middle school and on our way out to a new school. Just like Yohan during his senior slide moment (or three months, as Mr. Weathers put it). Well, already the thirteenth of the month. Soon it will be October and then it’ll be really weird having to wear coats and long pants and everything. The nights are already starting to chill off….

Aside from small talk about the weather, the eighth grade’s doing well (seemingly), except for the odd mixing of classes (who was responsible for that??). Concert Orchestra starts this Monday, which should be interesting. Welcome back to all of you who auditioned or re-auditioned. Things will be different without the original posse – Joan, Zizi, Danny, Ari, Jeremiah, and James, we’ll miss you! It’ll still be the same, give or take a few people. Thanks for a ton of great memories, though.

And of course, congrats to the Taubls who made it into the Top 20 on America’s Got Talent recently. You guys did well to make it that far! And for the record, Emily’s voice is so much better than Jennifer Price’s.

So I guess that wraps it up for right now…and to end this post, I survived a near-death skydiving experience off a cliff in a parking lot this weekend.

Cheers,

Lily
